Gunnar's Story (7-29-2018 - 9/01/2022)

In honor of our son Gunnar, we have created a non-profit organization called "Play Like Gunnar". Play Like Gunnar is a way we can all honor Gunnar and the wonderful loving child he was. To keep his smile, his laugh and wonderful memories we all had in our hearts and minds. All proceeds will be donated to the Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) in Gunnars name. CHD affects 40,000 babies each year and 1 and 4 of those 40,000 will require surgery within the first year of life. Your donations big or small will help us make a difference for all affected with CHD. No family should ever feel the pain we have felt this past year and with each donation made its one step closer to making that possible. We thank each and every one of you that has donated in honor of Gunnar. Gunnar loved everyone he met. His heart, although broken, had so much love. Gunnar will truly be missed but with this foundation his life will live on forever.

Diagnosis

Gunnar passed away on 9/1/22 from unknown complications from his most recent heart surgery. Gunnar was born with HLHS (hypoplastic left heart syndrome). Gunnar required multiple operations from the time he was born but it never stopped him from being the fun loving, full of energy little boy that loved playing with his brothers Bryce and Oliver. Gunnar was recovering nicely at home after 2 weeks in the hospital but for reasons unknown to us GOD called him home. Gunnar turned 4 on July 29, 2022. See you later Gunnar! We love and miss you so much!

Last Ride

Gunnar' final ride was amazing. There are not enough tears, or words to express our gratitude for the love that we felt on one of the hardest days of our lives. We would personal like to say "Thank you" to Louis Vastola for making Gunnar's last journey an amazing one. What Gino did for our family and for Gunnar will be something we all cherish until the end of time... We love you Gino!!! For all the police officer, and firemen that also honored our son on his final journey, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
